How to Update SSL Certificate Profiles to a 199‑Day Validity Period in Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM)?
Overview
This guide provides step‑by‑step instructions for verifying and updating SSL certificate profile validity terms in Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM) to ensure a maximum duration of 199 days, in alignment with current public SSL certificate lifetime requirements.
Scope
This article applies to:
-
SCM administrators
-
Public SSL certificate profiles (DV, OV, EV)
-
SCM version 26.1 and later
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
-
Administrator access to Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM)
-
Public SSL certificate profiles (DV, OV, EV) to manage
-
SCM version 26.1 or later, as earlier versions may not support enforcement of the 199‑day term
Procedure: Update Certificate Profile to 199 Days
Use the steps below to verify or explicitly set a certificate profile to a 199day term.
-
Log in to Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM).
-
Navigate to Enrollment → Certificate Profiles.
-
Locate the target public SSL certificate profile and select Edit.
-
In the Validity / Term section:
-
Confirm that 199 days is available and selected.
-
If editable, remove any certificate terms greater than 199 days.
-
Select Save to apply the changes.
Expected Behavior
-
All new certificate requests using this profile will default to a 199day validity period.
-
During renewal, SCM automatically selects the longest available term (199 days) for certificates that previously had longer validity periods.
Troubleshooting and Validation
If the 199day option is not visible:
-
Confirm the certificate profile is configured for public SSL (not private or restricted to 90 days).
-
Verify that the tenant is running SCM version 26.1 or later.
If longer terms reappear or cannot be removed, note that platform level enforcement may automatically align profiles with current policy requirements.
Important Notes
-
SCM automatically enforces a 199day maximum validity for public SSL certificate profiles that previously allowed longer terms.
-
Profiles restricted to 90 days are not modified.
-
Any terms greater than 199 days are automatically removed as part of platform enforcement.
-
Changes apply only to newly issued certificates. Existing certificates issued with longer lifetimes remain valid until their original expiration date.
