How to Set Up a Sectigo Token Using SafeNet for OV/EV Code Signing and Document Signing Certificates
Overview
By the end of this guide, your SafeNet token will be configured with a new password and ready to sign code or documents using your Sectigo certificate. This procedure applies to Organization Validation (OV) and Extended Validation (EV) Code Signing and Document Signing certificates. You will confirm the email that contains your token password, install the SafeNet Authentication Client (SAC), connect your token, and set a new token password.
Prerequisites
-
Your Sectigo Code Signing or Document Signing certificate order is issued.
-
You have access to the admin email address used on the certificate order.
-
You have your physical SafeNet Universal Serial Bus (USB) token.
-
You can install software on your Windows or macOS computer.
Steps
-
Confirm the email that contains your token password.
When your certificate is issued, Sectigo sends an email with the tracking details and the token password to the registered admin email address. Open this email and confirm that you have the token password before continuing. Use the same email address associated with your certificate order to avoid processing delays.
If you cannot find the email:
-
Check your Spam or Junk folders in case the email was filtered.
-
If it is still missing, submit a support ticket to Sectigo Support using Case Type: Technical Support and Case Reason: Certificate Technical Support.
-
Install the SafeNet Authentication Client (SAC).
Download the SafeNet Authentication Client (SAC) from the Sectigo SAC download page for certificates on e-Token. Follow the instructions on that download page to complete the installation.
-
Connect your token and open the client.
-
Connect your SafeNet token to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your computer.
-
Open the SafeNet Authentication Client from the Start Menu on Windows or the Applications folder on macOS.
-
Select Change Token Password.

-
In the New Token Password and Confirm Password fields, enter and confirm your new password. Follow the password requirements shown in the dialog.

Select OK to save the change.
