How Do Organizations and Departments Function in Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM)?
1. Overview
Organizations and Departments in Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM) exist to help enterprise's structure certificate issuance, lifecycle management, domain assignments, and administrative access. Depending on complexity, an enterprise may configure multiple Organizations and subdivide each into multiple Departments.
These structures enable:

Requesting, issuing, and managing certificates for employees, domains, and systems.

Assigning administrators at appropriate scopes.

Applying certificate policies and domain configurations.
2. Organizations Page – Key Elements
Columns

Name – The name of an organization or department.

Status – Validation state: Validated, Action Required, Failed, Expired.

Quick Search, Filter, Refresh to navigate large org structures easily.
Admin Controls (Organization Level)

3. Adding Organizations and Departments
Add an organization
-
Navigate to Organizations → click Add.
-
Complete required fields:
-
Organization Name
-
Secondary Organization Name (optional)
-
Alias (used for SAML-based IdP attribute matching)
-
Address lines, City, State/Province, Postal Code, Country
-
Configure Certificate Settings:
-
Password Policy
-
Synchronize SSL Expiration
-
Enable or restrict API enrollment (Web/REST/SOAP)

Make External Requester Mandatory (regex supported)

Default profile for client certificates
Add a department
-
Navigate to Organizations → select the organization.

Choose Add Department.
-
Enter Department Name + optional SAML Alias.

Configure any department specific certificate settings.
4. Managing Organizations & Departments
Edit Organization / Department Details

Update legal name, secondary name, alias, address.
Edit Certificate Settings
-
Adjust password requirements, synchronized expiration rules, requester requirements, and API enablement.

Settings may differ for SSL vs. client certificates.
