How to Configure the Sectigo Timestamp Authority (TSA) in Adobe Acrobat? 

 

Overview 

This guide provides the step-by-step process for configuring the Sectigo Time Stamp Authority (TSA) in Adobe Acrobat, enabling timestamps on digitally signed PDF documents to improve long-term validity, legal reliability, and compliance. 

Prerequisites 

Before you begin, ensure you have the following: 

  • Adobe Acrobat installed on your system 

  • A valid digital signing certificate configured in Adobe Acrobat 

 

Procedure 

Steps to Configure Timestamping in Adobe Acrobat 

1. Open Adobe Acrobat 

Launch Adobe Acrobat on your system. 

2. Go to Preferences 

Navigate to Menu → Preferences. 

 

3. Select Signatures 

From the lefthand menu, choose Signatures. 
 

4. Open Time Stamp Server Settings 

Under Creation & Appearancelocate Time Stamps and click More…. 

 

5. Add a New Timestamp Server 

Click Add or New. 

 

6. Enter Server Information 

Input the following: 

  • Server Name: Sectigo  

  • Server URL:  

7. Save and Set as Default 

 

Click OK, then select the server and choose Set Default if required. 

8. Re-Sign the Document 

Close Preferences, then apply your digital signature again. 

 
Adobe Acrobat will now use the Sectigo TSA server automatically for timestamping.

Post Configuration Results 

After completing the setup and signing a document, Adobe Acrobat will display the following enhancements: 

  1. “The signature includes an embedded timestamp” 

Acrobat confirms that the timestamp was successfully applied via Sectigo’s TSA. 

  1. Improved legal defensibility and nonrepudiation 

Timestamping provides verifiable proof of when the signature was applied, strengthening compliance and audit requirements.
