How to Check Domain Validation Status Using Validation Manager?
Overview
When you purchase an SSL/TLS certificate from Sectigo, your domain must complete Domain Validation (DV) before the certificate can be issued. The Validation Manager is Sectigo’s online tool that allows you to view and manage the validation status of your domains in one place.
This article explains how Sectigo eCommerce customers can easily check the Domain Validation status using the Validation Manager.
Audience: For Sectigo eCommerce Customers
What Is Domain Validation?
Domain Validation (DV) confirms that you control the domain name for which the SSL certificate is being issued. Until DV is completed successfully, Sectigo cannot issue your certificate.
What Is the Validation Manager?
The Validation Manager is a centralized part of Sectigo Portal provided by Sectigo that allows you to:
- View the validation status
- Track pending or expired validations
- Troubleshoot validation issues
Prerequisites
Before you proceed, ensure the following:
- You are a Sectigo eCommerce customer
- You have access to the Sectigo portal.
Step‑by‑Step: Check Domain Validation Status
Step 1: Log in to Sectigo portal
- Go to the Sectigo portal login page.
- Log in using your registered username and password.
- Go to My Products in your Sectigo portal to view all the certificate orders associated with your account.
- Locate the order item you want to review.
- Once you have located the order details, click Check Status to see the current progress and any actions required.
Step 2: Review the Domain Validation Status
- Finally, open the Validation Manager, where you can view the Domain Validation (DV) status, validation method, and any pending steps needed to complete the process.
The Validation Manager may display any of the following domain validation statuses:
|
Status |
Description |
|
Not Applicable |
Domain Control Validation is not required for this request. This occurs when the product does not need DCV, the domain is validated through another workflow, or validation is handled automatically. No action is required from the user. |
|
Action Required |
User action is necessary to continue the DCV process. This may include approving a validation email, adding/correcting a DNS TXT record, or uploading the required file for file‑based validation. Validation cannot proceed until the required action is completed. |
|
Completed |
DCV has been fully and successfully completed. Domain control has been verified, and the certificate can now be issued or re-issued. The validation may also be reusable until its expiration. No further action is needed unless it is nearing expiration. |
|
InProgress |
The validation process has started and Sectigo is actively checking the selected validation method (email, DNS, or file‑based). Automated processing is underway, though issues may still require user attention if detected. |
What to Do If Validation Is Action Required
If your domain validation is not complete:
- Check your approval email inbox, including spam/junk folders
- Ensure DNS or file‑based validation records are correctly configured
- Restart validation from the certificate order if needed
If issues persist, contact Sectigo Customer Support with your domain name and order number.
