How to Check Domain Validation Status Using Validation Manager?
Overview
This article shows Sectigo eCommerce customers how to find the Domain Validation (DV) status of an order and act on it. You will sign in to the Sectigo portal, open the Validation Manager, and interpret the Domain Control Validation (DCV) status the tool reports. It covers the Prerequisites, the Steps to open Validation Manager (VM), the DV statuses you may see, and what to do If the status is Action required.
Prerequisites
-
You are a Sectigo eCommerce customer.
-
You have sign-in access to the Sectigo portal.
-
You know the order number or domain you want to check.
Steps to check DV status
Step 1 - Sign in to the Sectigo portal
Open the Sectigo portal sign-in page and sign in with your registered username and password. Open My Products to see every certificate order on your account, locate the order you want to review, and click Check Status.
Step 2 - Open Validation Manager
From the order's status page, open Validation Manager. The tool shows the current DV status for each domain on the order, the validation method in use, and any pending action required to complete validation.
Note: If you do not see Validation Manager on the order's status page, confirm the order is still active and that you are signed in with the account that placed the order.

DV statuses you may see
Validation Manager reports one of four statuses for each domain. Use this table to interpret the status and decide whether action is needed.
|
Status |
What it means |
What to do |
|
Not applicable |
DCV is not required for this request, either because the product does not need it or because the domain was validated through another workflow |
No action needed |
|
Action required |
Validation cannot proceed until you complete a step: approve a validation email, publish a DNS record, or upload a file |
Follow the steps in 'If the status is Action required' below |
|
Completed |
DCV has been verified and the certificate can be issued or re-issued; the validation may be reusable until it expires |
No action needed unless the validation is near expiration |
|
InProgress |
Sectigo is actively checking the chosen validation method (email, DNS, or file) |
Wait for automated processing; recheck if it does not move within the expected window |
If the status is Action required
When Validation Manager shows Action required, do the following before contacting support.
-
Check the approval email inbox for the validation message, including spam and junk folders.
-
Confirm the DNS record or validation file is published correctly for the method you chose.
-
If nothing is pending on your side, restart validation from the certificate order.
-
If the issue persists, contact Sectigo Customer Support with your domain name and order number.
