How to add DigiCert as a backend CA in Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM)?
Overview:
This guide provides the step‑by‑step process for integrating DigiCert as a Backend Certificate Authority (CA) within Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM). Completing this setup enables SCM to request and issue certificates through DigiCert’s API.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
-
A Windows machine for installing the CA Connector.
-
A valid DigiCert API Key.
-
Ability to create a CA Connector in SCM.
-
Ability to create a CA Backend in SCM.
Procedure to add DigiCert as a Backend CA (Request certificates from third parties)
Step 1: Create the CA Connector in SCM
In SCM, navigate to Integrations → CA Connectors and initiate the creation of a new connector.
Obtain the Installation Token for later use.
Download the CA Connector Application provided in the interface:
Save the credential:
Step 2: Install the CA Connector on Windows
Install the connector application and apply the previously obtained Installation Token when prompted.
After installation, confirm the connector status shows “Connected.”
Confirm the status of the CA Connector (it should say "Connected"):
Step 3: Register the DigiCert Backend Using the Command Line
From the windows resource, assign a Backend name, and pass the Digicert API credentials using this registration command,
ex: sectigo-cbcs.exe backend add -name <backend_name> -type digicert -apikey <digicert_api_key>
Run the above command from the CA Connectors installation directory; default path to sectigo-cbcs: C:\Program Files\Sectigo Limited\SectigoCBCS
Refer to the connector management documentation for additional details: https://docs.sectigo.com/scm/scm-administrator/managing-ca-connectors
Step 4: Create the CA Backend in SCM
In SCM, navigate to Issuers → CA Backends and click the green “+” icon to add a new backend.
Click on the green "+" icon to add a new CA Backend.
Select "Digicert" from the "Backend Type" dropdown menu
Assign a Name.
Select your Digicert CA Connector in the "Connector" dropdown.
Select the backend name you created during the registration process in the "Local CA Backend" dropdown:
Save the configuration.
Verification
To confirm successful setup:
-
The CA Connector in SCM should show Connected status.
-
DigiCert should appear as an available Backend CA under Issuers → CA Backends.
