What types of databases does CodeGuard back up?

Overview

By the end of this article, you will know which databases CodeGuard can and cannot back up, and how CodeGuard connects to each supported database. CodeGuard supports MySQL — including the MyISAM and InnoDB storage engines — as well as MariaDB and Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL). It does not support PostgreSQL, SQLite, or MongoDB. CodeGuard connects to MySQL databases directly or by tunneling over Secure Shell (SSH), and to MS SQL databases through a direct connection.

Supported databases

CodeGuard can back up the following databases:

Additional details:

MySQL — CodeGuard is compatible with all MySQL storage engines, including MyISAM and InnoDB. Some limitations apply to databases that use the MyISAM storage engine; for details, see the CodeGuard support article on MyISAM storage engine limitations.

MariaDB — MariaDB is a community-developed fork of MySQL that is designed to stay highly compatible with MySQL. Because of this compatibility, CodeGuard's MySQL backups work well with MariaDB databases.

Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL) — CodeGuard can back up MS SQL databases.

Databases that are not supported

At this time, CodeGuard cannot back up the following databases:

PostgreSQL

SQLite

MongoDB

How CodeGuard connects to your database
