What is the difference between a subdomain and custom domain with my whitelabel account?

Overview

When creating a custom URL for a white label account, choose one of these options:

  • Subdomain: use a subdomain of totalwebsiteprotection.com, such as mycompany.totalwebsiteprotection.com.

  • Custom domain: use a domain that you own, such as backups.mycompany.com.

Use a subdomain of totalwebsiteprotection.com, for example mycompany.totalwebsiteprotection.com. 

No extra setup is required. 

Custom domain 

Use any domain you like, for example backups.mycompany.com. 

Create a DNS CNAME entry that points to cname.totalwebsiteprotection.com. 

Set up a subdomain

  1. Select Subdomain.

  1. Enter the subdomain name you want to use.

  1. Use the generated URL with the totalwebsiteprotection.com domain. No extra setup is required. 
     

Set up a custom domain

  1. Select Custom domain.

  1. Enter the custom domain you want to use.

  1. Create a DNS CNAME entry for the custom domain.

  1. Point the CNAME entry to cname.totalwebsiteprotection.com.

  1. If you need help creating the DNS entry, contact your hosting provider or web developer.
