What does the Backup Success Graph mean?

The article defines the graph and the seven-day period it measures, explains the red and yellow indicators used to mark a website or database with a failed backup, and describes the failure notification email and the steps to take when the graph shows a failure.

What is the backup success graph?

The backup success graph is the chart displayed at the top of the CodeGuard dashboard. It shows the percentage of backups that have run successfully over the last seven days, across the websites and databases in your account.

A graph at 100 percent means every backup attempted in the last seven days completed successfully. A value below 100 percent means at least one backup failed during that period. For example, a graph that shows one failure indicates that one backup did not complete in the last seven days, while the remaining backups completed normally.

What the red and yellow indicators mean

When a backup fails, CodeGuard highlights the affected website or database in the dashboard. The colour indicates how recent the failure is.

Indicator	Meaning
Red	The most recent backup for that website or database failed.
Yellow	A backup failed within the last seven days, but the most recent backup completed successfully.

A red indicator means the website or database currently has no successful recent backup and needs attention. A yellow indicator means the problem may already have resolved itself, because a later backup completed.

What to do when the graph shows a failure

Check your email. CodeGuard sends a notification email whenever a backup does not complete. The email explains why the backup failed and includes troubleshooting steps for that specific failure.
Follow the troubleshooting steps in the email. The steps are specific to the cause of the failure, such as a connection or permission problem on the server.
Check the dashboard again after the next scheduled backup. If the next backup completes, the indicator changes from red to yellow, and the graph returns to 100 percent once seven days pass with no further failures.

How to confirm backups are healthy again

Open the CodeGuard dashboard and check the backup success graph. Once seven days have passed with no failed backups, the graph returns to 100 percent and the red or yellow indicator no longer appears beside the website or database.
