Overview

This article explains how to update your website hostname in CodeGuard after you begin using CloudFlare, so that backups continue to run without interruption. By the end, you will have changed the stored hostname from your plain domain to one of the two supported formats — ftp.yourdomain.com or direct.yourdomain.com.

It covers who this applies to, the two supported hostname formats, the steps to make the change on the website's Settings tab, and how to confirm the update was saved.

Who this applies to

This change applies to you if both of the following are true:

• You have a website protected by CodeGuard.
• You have recently started routing that website through CloudFlare.

If you are not using CloudFlare, no hostname change is needed and your existing CodeGuard configuration continues to work.

Supported hostname formats

CodeGuard accepts either of these two formats for a CloudFlare-protected website:

Format	Example
ftp. prefix	ftp.yourdomain.com
direct. prefix	direct.yourdomain.com

Both formats point CodeGuard at the website directly rather than through CloudFlare. Choose whichever your hosting provider supports.

Steps to update the hostname

1. Log in to your CodeGuard dashboard.
2. Select the website you want to edit from the website list.
3. Open the Settings tab for that website.

4. Locate the hostname field, which currently holds your plain domain — for example, codeguardtestsite.com.
5. Change the hostname to one of the supported formats — for example, ftp.codeguardtestsite.com or direct.codeguardtestsite.com.
6. Save the change.

If the hostname is not accepted or backups continue to fail after the change, contact the CodeGuard support team with your website name and the hostname you entered.
