SCM Sectigo EV SSL Validation guide

SCM Validating Organizations

In addition to standard Domain Validation (DV) SSL certificates, Sectigo offers Organization Validation (OV) SSL and S/MIME certificates, as well as Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates. These certificate types require additional steps to verify your organization’s identity.

Sectigo no longer requires an EV Anchor to be issued for your organization. By enabling EV validation, all domains delegated to your organization will be eligible to request EV certificates.

The verification process differs slightly for OV and EV requests:

OV — A Sectigo validation specialist will review the organization details provided in SCM. If the details cannot be verified, the administrator who initiated the validation will be contacted for additional information.
EV — A Sectigo validation specialist will review the EV-specific organization details provided in SCM. This process also involves additional contact and verification between the authorized representative of your organization and the validation specialist.

Extended Validation (EV) Details and Management

Organizations that wish to issue EV certificates must provide EV-specific details. This includes information about the organization’s incorporation, registration agency, contract signer, and EV approver.

EV configuration options may vary based on your account setup. For more information about EV certificates or completing validation for your organization, contact your Sectigo account manager.

Adding EV Validation Details

If EV validation is enabled for your account, follow these steps to update EV details:

Navigate to Organizations.
Select the organization you want to validate.
Click Add Validation.
Complete the Add Validation dialog:

Field	Description
CA Backend	The CA backend that will validate the organization and issue certificates of this type.
Validation Level	Select EV SSL.
Validation Set	Choose the organization name to be used for validation: • Primary — The original name entered when the organization was created. • Secondary — An optional alternate name entered during creation.

Click Next.
Complete the Validation Details dialog:

Field	Description
Legal Name	The organization's legal, registered name.
DBA Name	Alternate “Doing Business As” name, if applicable.
Address 1, 2, 3	Street address of the organization.
City	City where the organization is located.
State/Province	State or province where the organization is located.
Postal Code	Organization’s postal code.
Country	Country of registration.
Dun & Bradstreet Number	Unique nine-digit identifier from Dun & Bradstreet.
Company Registration Number	Number assigned by the incorporating authority.
Jurisdiction of Incorporation City/Town	City or town of incorporation.
State/Province of Incorporation	State or province of incorporation.
Country of Incorporation	Country where the company was incorporated.
Date of Incorporation	Official date of incorporation.
Business Category	Industry or sector the company operates in.
Forename / Surname	First and last name of the contract signer.
Email	Email address of the contract signer.
Phone Number	Contact phone number for the contract signer.

Click Submit.

Once submitted, a Sectigo validation specialist will review the details. If additional information is needed, the administrator who initiated the validation will be contacted.
