SCM Sectigo EV SSL Validation guide

SCM Validating Organizations

In addition to standard Domain Validation (DV) SSL certificates, Sectigo offers Organization Validation (OV) SSL and S/MIME certificates, as well as Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates. These certificate types require additional steps to verify your organization’s identity.

Sectigo no longer requires an EV Anchor to be issued for your organization. By enabling EV validation, all domains delegated to your organization will be eligible to request EV certificates.

The verification process differs slightly for OV and EV requests:

  • OV — A Sectigo validation specialist will review the organization details provided in SCM. If the details cannot be verified, the administrator who initiated the validation will be contacted for additional information.

  • EV — A Sectigo validation specialist will review the EV-specific organization details provided in SCM. This process also involves additional contact and verification between the authorized representative of your organization and the validation specialist.

Extended Validation (EV) Details and Management

Organizations that wish to issue EV certificates must provide EV-specific details. This includes information about the organization’s incorporation, registration agency, contract signer, and EV approver.

EV configuration options may vary based on your account setup. For more information about EV certificates or completing validation for your organization, contact your Sectigo account manager.
