Blacklisting Websites and Databases for HostGator Customers

Blacklisting enables customers to specify websites and databases that they do NOT want to be backed up. Note that blacklisting is recommended if you simply do not need a specific website or database to be backed up or if you do not wish to delete the website or database. Blacklisting can also be a good way to cut down on storage if you are reaching your quota.

In order to create a blacklist file, please use the one attached to this article. Note that you will need to keep both sections (for website and database) in this file even if you are only blacklisting one or the other...spacing is also important, so please maintain the spacing format provided (2 spaces vs. tab). Blacklist formats are picky! If you are unsure of the format, then please be sure to use a tool such as http://yamllint.com/ to verify the structure before saving the file.

As a HostGator customer, you just need to add this file to your HostGator files under ~/.codeguard/blacklist. Your websites and databases will be removed from CodeGuard the next time HostGator performs a Resource Sync.
