What are Reports in Sectigo Certificate Manager ?

Reports in Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM)

1. Understanding Reports

Reports in Sectigo Certificate Manager provide administrators with visibility into certificate activity, usage, provisioning, expiration, and auditing. They are used to monitor certificate lifecycle operations, troubleshoot issues, support compliance requirements, and provide internal or customerfacing reporting.

Reports help you:

  • Track certificate issuance and expiration

  • Review provisioning and revocation activity

  • Analyze certificate usage trends

  • Export certificate data for audits or external reporting

  • Diagnose operational issues

  • Maintain compliance with internal or external security policies

Reports are commonly used in support workflows, auditing cycles, and customer deliverables.

2. Reports Page Overview

The Reports page allows administrators to create, schedule, run, and manage various types of certificate reports.

Key Components

  • Report Type

  • Filters (Organizations, Departments, Dates, Certificate Type, Events)

  • Scheduling Options

  • Email Recipients

  • Execution History

  • Downloadable Report Files (CSV)

Each report is tied to the administrator who created it. Report tasks are private and not visible to other administrators.

3. New Reporting Capabilities

Sectigo has introduced enhanced reporting functionality, including:

Asynchronous Reporting

Reports now run asynchronously in the background. Once complete, the system provides a downloadable ZIP file containing the CSV output.

Report Reuse and Editing

Reports you previously executed are saved as report tasks. These tasks can be:

  • Restarted

  • Edited

  • Downloaded from history

Scheduling and Delivery

You may schedule reports to run automatically at chosen intervals. After each run, recipients receive a notification email with the report attached.

Improved Filters

Filters can include:

  • Custom date ranges

  • Next or previous number of days

  • Certificate properties (SAN count, host locations, certificate state)

  • Requested Via (for understanding enrollment sources)

New Report Types

A new report type, “SSL Certificates Per Organization,” generates separate reports for each organization or department selected.

4. Creating a Report

To create a new report:

  1. Navigate to Reports.

  1. Select the report type you want to generate.

  1. Choose the Organizations and Departments you want to include.

  1. Select filters such as certificate type, status, date range, or lifecycle event.

  1. Configure scheduling if needed.

  1. Add email recipients for automatic delivery.

  1. Save the task and run it.

Each run is recorded in the execution history and can be downloaded later.

5. Managing Reports

You can manage all saved report tasks using the Reports dashboard.

Edit an Existing Report

Modify filters, scheduling, or recipient lists without recreating the task.

View Execution History

All task runs include:

  • Date and time

  • Completion status

  • File download link

  • Notification delivery details

Restart a Report

Useful for refreshing data without making changes.

Delete a Report

Removes the report task from your list.

6. Practical Use Cases

Reports in SCM support many operational scenarios, such as:

  • Monthly summaries of SSL certificates issued

  • Lists of certificates expiring within a defined time range

  • Tracking S/MIME or client certificate provisioning

  • Generating compliance documentation for internal or external auditors

  • Exporting certificates for inventory management

  • Partner or customerspecific reporting needs

  • Activity reports for troubleshooting or identifying provisioning issues

7. Best Practices for Reporting

  • Schedule recurring reports for expiration tracking.

  • Use filters to minimize output and focus on targeted activity.

  • Add team distribution lists to recipient lists for broader visibility.

  • Review report audit history to ensure tasks run successfully.

  • Maintain separate report tasks for different organizations or certificate categories.

  • Use exported CSV files to feed BI dashboards or Excelbased analysis.

8. Summary

SCM Reports provide flexible, powerful insights into certificate activity across your organization. With asynchronous report generation, automated scheduling, email delivery, expanded filter options, and reusable tasks, SCM enables administrators to manage certificates more effectively and stay ahead of compliance and operational needs.
