How to generate Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for domain in Plesk
Overview
Before you can purchase and install an SSL certificate for your website, you must generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). Plesk provides a simple interface that allows administrators to create a CSR and associated private key securely.
After generating the CSR, you can submit it through the Sectigo portal to begin the certificate issuance process.

Prerequisites
- Administrative access to Plesk.
- A domain configured in Plesk.
Procedure
Step 1: Log in to Plesk
Log in to Plesk using an account with administrator privileges.
Step 2: Open the Domain Management Page
Navigate to Websites & Domains.
Step 3: Open SSL/TLS Certificates
Select the domain you want to secure and click SSL/TLS Certificates.
Step 4: Create a New Certificate Request
Click Add SSL/TLS Certificate.
Step 5: Complete the Certificate Request Form
Enter the required certificate information.

Step 6: Generate the CSR
Click Request.
Plesk generates the CSR and stores both the CSR and corresponding private key in the certificate repository.
Step 7: Retrieve the CSR
Locate the newly created certificate in the certificate repository and open its CSR details.
Copy the complete CSR block:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- [Encoded CSR content] -----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
Step 8: Submit the CSR to Sectigo
- Log in to the Sectigo portal.
- Paste the CSR into the certificate request form.
- Complete any required validation or verification steps.
- Submit the request.
After successful validation, Sectigo issues the SSL certificate and provides it through email or a download link.
