Overview:
This article provides a step-by-step guideline for http/http(s) based DCV.
Note:
-
IP address DCV can be completed only by using HTTP/HTTPS CSR Hash method.

This method cannot be used for validating certificates with Wildcard Domain names.
Pre-requisites:
-
Each host name that should be included on the certificate should have a webservice (Port: 80 or 443) running on it.

The service should be accessible in any geo-location without any restrictions.

MD5 and SHA-256 hash values of CSR required for creating the txt file. (optional: unique value provided by Sectigo) These values can be found while submitting the request while choosing the DCV.

Access to Sectigo validation manager.
Steps to follow:

If you have ordered your certificate from sectigo.com, The hash values are calculated and displayed through the Sectigo web interface after completing Setup.

If you have ordered your certificate through different channel, Find the Validation Manager link in your order confirmation email.

The file should be named in the below format:
<MD5 hash>.txt and placed in the /.well-known/pki-validation directory of the HTTP server, like below:

Text file is to be created, containing the SHA-256 hash and the domain ‘sectigo.com’ on the next line, <uniqueValue> should be added in the 3rd line

Click on “CHECK STATUS” button to redirect to a new webpage where you can find the Values for Domain Control Validation.

Click on “Show Alternative DCV information” to find the CSR Hashs and formatted CNAME record, HTTP text file values .

Click on HTTP CSR HASH tab to see the HTTP text values to be created on website hosting server.
