How to Install an SSL Certificate on a Palo Alto Firewall?

This guide provides a step-by-step process for importing an SSL certificate into a Palo Alto Firewall and assigning it to the appropriate management services. This ensures secure administrative access and encrypted communication.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

Access to the Palo Alto Firewall with administrator privileges

The SSL certificate file (matching the CSR previously generated)

The correct certificate name used during CSR generation
Steps to install the SLL certificate on a Palo Alto Firewall

In your Firewall Navigate to Device > Certificate Management > Certificates.

Click Import to begin the certificate upload process.

When prompted, select the certificate file and ensure the certificate name matches the one used during the CSR (Certificate Signing Request) generation.

After importing the certificate, you must assign it to the appropriate services:
Navigate to Device > Setup > Management.
Click the gear icon under General Settings.
In the SSL/TLS Service Profile section, select the profile that uses your newly imported certificate.
Click OK, then Commit the changes to apply the configuration.
Verification
To confirm that the SSL certificate installation was successful:

Attempt to access the firewall management interface via HTTPS

Check that the browser shows a valid certificate with no security warnings

Review the certificate details to ensure the correct name and issuer are displayed
