Key pair generation function: Private Key and CSR for Windows based platforms
This article describes how to generate a key pair (private key and a CSR) in-order to effectively order certain certificates.
Products that require key generation
- Organisation Validated Code Signing Certificates
- Personal Authentication Certificates
- Corporate Secure Email Certificates
Browser-based certificate key generation will create a keypair and then use the public key to create a certificate signing request (CSR). The key is then stored in the browser keystore to facilitate the resulting certificate installation.
note: Microsoft Edge application will be used to leverage “Internet Explorer (IE) mode”.
Microsoft Edge supports the following in Internet Explorer (IE) mode.

- Browser Helper Objects
- Internet Explorer settings and group policies that affect security zone settings and Protected Mode
- F12 developer tools for IE, when launched with IEChooser.exe
- Microsoft Edge extensions (Extensions that interact with the IE page content directly are not supported.)
